Ursulinenschule Hersel
Support Momotombo as school project
In April 2014, the girls’ school Ursulinenschule Bornheim-Hersel (USH) chose Momotombo as one of three school projects. This allowed deepening an already existing partnership.
The USH is an publicly registered catholic private school under the archdiocese of Cologne with an academic high school and a middle school. Both schools are for girls only and have approximately 1200 pupils in total.
Ever since this cooperation started, Momotombo visited several classes to design the lessons, contributed to school masses and was even allowed to hold the Christmas mass. The USH girls and teachers support Momotombo in the meantime with contributions from fundraising campaigns such as school cake sales or music and chorus concerts where they collect donations. Once a year, we are allowed to organize a stand at the Advent bazaar, where we sell handcrafts from Nicaragua and homemade goods, offer many works to browse through at the book flea market, and provide barbecue for the physical well-being. Every three years, we also run a charity event with the entire student body, raising several thousand euros each time
This is how the USH has become one of our most important supporters.
